Outlaw well drilling Stories.

There are many people who want water , and most states still have freedom enough you can drill your own well. But i do get emails from people in CA and other states who's law prohibit drilling, unless you first buy a 400.00 permit , and only have a trusted brother inlaw of the city manager drill your well. I do not premote breaking the law, but i have one question for you. What if the goverment says you cannot breathe unless you buy a permit. SOunds CRazy! You have to have air to breath, water to drink, and food to eat to stay alive. How did things ever get to the point that if you need water to drink from your own well to stay alive ,you have to depend on the mercy of a city or state offical  to grant you permisson to do so. Only after you pay them, plus get a permit so they can raise you taxes asap. I had one man write me who built there own rig extra short and drilled a well in his basement. That sounds like someone who's desporate. You own the land, but they tell you what to do, plus charge you also.I guess thats why people are moving out of the big cities so fast. Small portable water well rigs like the ones we sell plans for are very popular because they are small and do not draw attention like large truck rigs do.
Also when you drill on weekends the people who give you the most trouble are off work.City and state officals are some of the very few who never worry about working weekends. But watch out for monday mornings. I can't tell you what to do, so please check your local laws.

Heres a letter i received i want to share with you, if you have any interesting stories please email me.

Man from the state of LA writes.

I love it, when I showed this web page to my lovely wife she was shocked!  She said “ that sounds exactly like you .  Well, it’s a sad but true tale you are telling about the ridiculous restrictions on water wells (and many other things).  I suppose there are concerns about protection of aquifers and etc……. but I’ll pose the simple question; how many people that can and will drill their own well are going to then allow the water to be contaminated before drinking it?  I don’t know of a single person that has gotten sick, much less died from drinking bad well water.  Common sense is history and we are in an age of run away government stupidity.  Now days you have to have a license to do anything.  Here in Louisiana we are blessed with abundant ground water via. several prolific aquifers.  A great water well can be drilled here (in most cases) in 100’ +/-.  With all the trouble you would have to pay about $ 2,500 for this well.  I have drilled many “outlaw” wells for ¼ of this.  It’s easy to drill a “legal” well here though since those making the laws are so short-sighted.  You can rent the rig to the land owner and hire on as a consultant for $1.00 and their well is legal (at least according to state law).  However, the more restrictive parishes require a “permit” to be obtained.  The parish government collects $35.00 for the permit and does absolutely nothing.  They never even inspect the well head and don’t know “jack” about drilling.  The state (to their credit) only asks that the landowner register the well and supply basic information about it to boost its tax base..

Sorry for the dissertation but this topic really gets me crazy.  It’s great to see there is 1 other person out there that feels the same about this.

Letter from MR. Baracles from the state California.

Would you please tell me which of the mid and western states allow you to drill your own well.  I am going to look for property in those states.  California has put me over the edge.

Let me add to the run away stupidity. I live in Imperial Valley California.  I also live in an area mapped as possible geothermal.  To drill a well I have to Pay the State Geothermal agency a Permit fee of $200.00 I also have to leave a deposit with them of $2000.00 until the well is capped.  I then have to pay $3000.00 for a County Conditional use permit. There are a number of other permits I must get before I go to the state level.  All this before I pay a penny to a "California certified  well driller".  All this for ag water for salt tolerant plants.  There is a high salt content that is to high for drinking water.  The state engineer said that it was an area that was impossible to contaminate an aquifer for drinking water.  So why all the fees?
