Water Well Equipment That works Best.
Like any Job, the right tools are needed. If you have sub standard cheap equipment , its not like having the right tools. A water well to put it simple, is just a post hole in the ground with well casing and well screen inserted in it to keep the walls from falling in. Then the water flows into the screen to fill casing with water.Types of drilling rigs and bits to use  Depends on what formations you have where you live ,and how much money you have to spend doing it.
Sand point well -- washing down small screen for shallow wells in easy formations---- cost less than 300.00
This is labor intense, but great way for tight budgets.
Hand Dug well ---  Labor intense, but cheap to do. Great way to get son-inlaw to leave home for good. Only works where water is shallow and ground can be dug easily.
Cable tool Rig ---- Old method that is simple, but very very slow. There are still some old truck rigs that use this method. The best place for these rigs is solid hard rock. soft formations  do not work as well for these.
DTH (down the hole hammer) ----This is the lastest and greatest way to drill rock fast, only it takes massive amounts of air and money to do it. It is basicly  a mini jack hammer on the end of your drill pipe. Prices even for a cheap small DTH is 5000.00.  Plus you still need a 20,000 air compressor to run it. So unless your doing a gravey govement job, these options are out.
Rotary Mud ------- This method drills 96% of all formations,
